The Department of Leadership, Higher & Adult Education (LHAE) offers two types of master's degree programs: Master of Arts and Master of Education. Each degree serves a different purpose, depending on your career or educational goal.
Master's programs can be taken on a part-time or full-time basis.
- A part-time course load is normally two half courses per academic year (fall and winter).
- A full-time course load is typically six half courses per academic year (fall and winter).
- A small number of courses is also offered during the summer terms.
Master of Arts (MA)
Our research-stream, thesis-based Master of Arts (MA) programs are designed for those who wish to pursue a research career or doctoral-level studies:
Master of Education (MEd)
Our Master of Education (MEd) programs are coursework-based and designed for the professional development of practitioners. Some of our Master of Education programs offer a Major Research Project (MRP) option for those interested in research.
Master of Education in Educational Leadership & Policy
Online/Hybrid Cohort
In 2025, the Online/Hybrid Cohort option will be replaced by the new MEd field in School Leadership in Diverse Contexts (also online and part-time).
