Sylvia Shun Wah Lim, Staff Member

OISE remembers Sylvia Shun Wah Lim who worked in the print shop located in the OISE Library for many years. OISE student Joshua Lim shares that his grandmother Sylvia passed away peacefully with a full heart knowing she was with her family. Sylvia survived World War II and suffered many hardships in her 85 years, but her family says her faith carried her. She was an English teacher in Hong Kong before arriving to Toronto in 1967. She worked the rest of her career for U of T's Faculty of Education, known today as the Â鶹´«Ã½. Like Sylvia, Joshua, his mother, brother, sister and aunt have all studied at or been connected to OISE.
Joshua recalls that his grandmother was an exceptional lady. She was well-loved by many because of her thoughtfulness, humility and cheerful disposition. Her thoughtfulness meant that she never wanted to encumber anyone, especially her aging friends of which she had many good relationships.
Sylvia's family is very proud of her and will miss her deeply.
